On Friday, March 17, 2023, thirty-nine Stephens County middle school and high school teachers, counselors, and administrators exchanged their Teacher Workday for a chance to participate in a Discovery Tour of area businesses and industries to “Connect Classrooms to Careers.”

The Stephens County Development Authority has partnered with the Work-Based Learning Program at Stephens County High School to recognize a High School student every month that has demonstrated tremendous work ethic not only in the workplace but also in the school and extracurricular activities.

The Stephens County Development Authority presented a $1,000.00 scholarship to Belle Carter at the Stephens County High School’s Senior Scholarship night Thursday, May 11.

Thank you, Congressman Andrew Clyde and Field Representative Jordie Black, for joining the Stephens County Development Authority for an exciting, informative tour of North Georgia Technical College Currahee Campus, Sark Wire, and Trachte, followed with a delicious roundtable lunch with community leaders at Pings.

SCDA’s President & CEO Brittany Ivey and County Commission Chair James Addison traveled to Forsyth this week to receive a $200,000 OneGeorgia Equity Fund Grant from the Department of Community Affairs.

Chairman Hayrettin Cayci of Sarkuysan, the Turkish parent company of local industry Sark Wire, was in town late last week to meet with Sark Wire’s President Serdar Akin, Sark Wire’s Technical Vice President Kerim Uysal and other key members of Sark Wire’s management team.
