Tooling Technician

Intro: The responsibility of the Tooling Technician is to maintain and repair molds and tooling and perform the assigned tasks according to the direction of the Lead Tooling Technician and Technical Services Manager.
Decription of Position: Sole Responsibility / Assignments to be completed by the position: · Perform all day-to-day tool room activities and reaction to production demands as required · Capability to repair dies using basic and advanced equipment · Communicate improvements of existing dies to manager · Complete work orders and PM’s timely · Measures, marks, and scribes’ metals for machining · Uses hoists to lift, turn, and flip tooling for repair access · Perform sanding, scraping, and benching by hand to improve tool form, fit, and function, using common tools of the trade · Set up and operate manual machine tools as needed · Experienced in Mig, Tig, and stick welding · Specializes in repair work · Work with other departments in the design and repair of equipment · Maintenance, wiring, and repair of injection molding tooling, hot runner systems, core pulling systems, and heaters. · Ensure tool room equipment is maintained and utilized effectively · Support the implementation of the defined 5s standard · Ensure that all safety guidelines outlined by OSHA and Nifco KTW are followed · Report immediately any changes in quality, production, safety, security, and environment to the Lead Tooling Technician · Coordinate with all departments of the company to promote good communication, good quality, and the best interest of the company · Independent monitoring after initial training and informs appropriate employee of any issues. · Forwards suggestions for improvement to manager · Comply with all regulations regarding workplace safety and accident prevention in everyday operations as well as informing the lead tooling technician or manager if deviations are detected during the shift Other Main Duties: · Maintain effective communication with all other departments and locations · Maintain and complete work orders in a CMMS environment · Knowledge of European controls and prints. · Hands-on in production area as needed · Behave in a positive manner that enhances the success of the company · Accurately complete appropriate paperwork and/or enter information into computer as required · Continuous participation in improvement of processes and procedures · Other management assigned tasks as required
Qualifications: Requirements Must be able to demonstrate a high level of tooling aptitude. Must execute essential functions, leadership skills and good communication skills with floor associates, vendors, and managers. Required to read and write proficiently in English and have the ability to understand manuals, directions, relative periodicals, etc. Must communicate information in writing to associates, management, and vendors. Must be able to prioritize and effectively execute multiple projects. Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft programs. Excellent attention to detail. Strong verbal, written, analytical and interpersonal skills. Must have good vision and eyesight, be a self-starter and work independently. Must be productive in a team environment. Must be able to sit, stand, walk for extended periods of time. Must be willing to be “on call” and report to work during off hours when needed. Required to work overtime as scheduled. Occasionally travel to customers, vendors or other locations including international.
